Nepalis in the USA include students, professionals, and families who have lived there for many years. Therapy there can be expensive and hard to find in your own language. You can talk to me online in Nepali or English.
What Nepalis in the USA often tell me about
- Study pressure, grades and part-time work for students
- Long working hours and high living costs
- Worry about visas, work permits and the future
- Health insurance and the cost of care
- Loneliness and distance from family
- Cultural gaps between parents and children raised in the USA
- Low mood, anxiety, panic or drinking more to cope
Time difference
The USA is well behind Nepal. The gap depends on your state and changes with daylight saving time (from March to early November clocks move forward 1 hour).
- East coast (New York): 10 hours 45 minutes behind (9 hours 45 minutes in summer)
- Central (Texas): 11 hours 45 minutes behind (10 hours 45 minutes in summer)
- West coast (California): 13 hours 45 minutes behind (12 hours 45 minutes in summer)
An evening session in the USA is early the next morning in Nepal. This is easy to arrange.
About medicines if you live in the USA
- US pharmacies need a prescription from a US-licensed prescriber. I can write to your doctor with my assessment and advice so they can prescribe for you.
- Rules on bringing or posting medicines into the USA are strict, especially for controlled medicines.
- Please do not carry or post medicines across borders without checking the rules first. If you need medicine, I can write a clear letter with my assessment and advice for a local doctor, who can then prescribe for you.

How online sessions work from the USA
- Message me on WhatsApp (+977 9851347591) and tell him you are in the USA and which city.
- He will offer a time that suits your time zone, and send payment details. You can pay by card from the USA, or a family member can pay in Nepal.
- You get a Google Meet link. Join from a quiet, private place. A phone with earphones is enough.
- Your first session is a full assessment. We agree a plan together, in Nepali or English.
Common questions
Can a Nepali in the USA see a psychiatrist online in Nepali?
Yes. I see Nepalis in the USA online by Google Meet, in Nepali or English, at times that suit your time zone.
Will my university, employer or visa be affected?
What you share stays private. I do not contact your university, employer or immigration unless you ask me to in writing, or someone’s life is in danger.
Can my parents in Nepal join or pay?
Yes, if you agree. Parents can join a session, or pay in Nepal by Fonepay, eSewa or Khalti.
