Many Nepalis work in South Korea through the Employment Permit System, in factories, farms and fishing, and more are coming to study. The work is hard and the language is new. You can talk to me online in Nepali.
What Nepalis in South Korea often tell me about
- Heavy physical work and long hours, often in remote factories or farms
- Injuries at work and worry about the future
- Language barriers and few people to talk to
- Worry about changing workplaces, contracts and visa extensions
- Loneliness and missing family
- Low mood, anxiety, anger, or drinking more to cope
Time difference
South Korea is 3 hours 15 minutes ahead of Nepal all year. When it is 9 PM in Seoul, it is 5:45 PM in Kathmandu.
About medicines if you live in South Korea
- South Korea controls many psychiatric medicines, and some are banned. Carry a prescription or doctor’s letter for any medicine you bring and check the rules before travel.
- Korean pharmacies need a prescription from a doctor in Korea.
- Please do not carry or post medicines across borders without checking the rules first. If you need medicine, I can write a clear letter with my assessment and advice for a local doctor, who can then prescribe for you.
