TEAM-CBT is a structured form of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) developed by Dr. David Burns at Stanford University. It measures how you feel at the start and end of every session, so you and your therapist can see what is working. Dr. Yujal Man Singh is a Level 3 certified TEAM-CBT therapist with the Feeling Good Institute, California, and was the first psychiatrist in Nepal to practise it.

What TEAM stands for
- T for Testing: short mood surveys before and after each session (the BMS form).
- E for Empathy: you are heard fully before any techniques start.
- A for Assessment of resistance: we look honestly at what part of you may not want to change, and why that makes sense.
- M for Methods: practical CBT tools to change the thoughts behind anxiety, depression and relationship problems.
Why measure every session?
CBT itself has strong evidence. The largest meta-analysis of CBT for depression, 409 trials with over 52,000 patients in World Psychiatry, found moderate to large benefits that lasted at follow-up [1]. Tracking progress at each session also helps: a meta-analysis in Clinical Psychology Review found that progress feedback improves outcomes and reduces drop-out [2]. This is why the BMS form before and after each session is a must.
Who it can help
Depression, anxiety, panic, OCD, low self-esteem, guilt, perfectionism, procrastination, and relationship conflict. It can be used alone or alongside medicine.

Common questions
How many sessions will I need?
It varies. Many people notice change within a few sessions, and your mood scores show it clearly.
Is TEAM-CBT different from normal CBT?
It uses the same CBT tools, with added measurement at every session and a careful look at resistance to change before starting techniques.
Can I do TEAM-CBT online?
Yes. Sessions work well on Google Meet, and the BMS form is filled in online.
In a crisis? This clinic does not provide emergency care. If you or someone near you may act on thoughts of suicide or is in danger, go to the nearest hospital emergency or call 1166 (Nepal suicide prevention helpline). Abroad, call your local emergency number.
